Daniel Henney wins "Outstanding Achievement in Acting" award
8 May – The "2012 Newport Beach Film Festival" has chosen South Korean actor, Daniel Henney to win the festival's "Outstanding Achievement in Acting" award for his performance in "Shanghai Calling".
Kpopseven reported that the award was given by the Festival's selection committee, who reviewed more than 2,000 films submitted for competition this year.
During his acceptance speech, the actor enthused, "I just want to say that I'm so humbled to receive this award. Thank you so much to the wonderful cast and crew of "Shanghai Calling", to Daniel Hsia for his incredible energy and direction, and to Janet Yang for having faith in me. Let's hope this is the first of many to come for this amazing little film!"
The said film follows the journey of a hotshot lawyer from New York named Sam (played by Daniel Henney) who gets assigned to Shanghai and was entangled in a budding romance while adapting to the culture of the place.
