Diary of a Fashion Insider: Britain's Got Talent

"While Simon Cowell would have given Britain's weather a "One Hundred Percent No" my week proved that in many other areas, Britain was scoring big on the world style leader board...

The start of the week saw me welcomed into the world of Agent Provocateur, to meet with the Creative Director Sarah Shotton. Surrounded by delectable lingerie, incredible canapés in a penthouse over looking – a rather soggy – Hyde Park felt very decadent indeed. London’s top fashionistas and lingerie lovers alike browsed the rails of the some of the finest undies that will grace the department stores from this August soundtracked by the dulcet tones of the flame haired Creative Director. Girly, fun and feisty, Sarah is the ultimate queen of this lingerie powerhouse and the kind of girl you want to hang out with on a Friday night. Agent Provocateur does something amazing to your figure and confidence – it’s the ultimate indulgence and should be a staple for any woman's wardrobe.

The next day I was whisked off to meet one of my favourite UK bands of the moment; Morning Parade - and what a lovely bunch of guys they were. Like being a fashion insider, the worry can be that too close a look at something you admire may burst the bubble of the illusions that make us fall for it in the first place but as I found out, on the whole it really only serves to intrigue you further. Humble, funny and super talented, these guys are true gents and even offered me VIP tickets to their upcoming gig at the Olympic Torch Relay concert in July – LOVE these guys!

The patriotic style continued the next day when I had met with Britain's most prolific designer Christopher Kane. British to the core, Christopher is self-deprecating but has the stature of a world leader in fashion – what an honor.

As the week drew to a close, I was handed an Access All Areas wristband and directed to underground venue - The Old Vic Tunnels in Waterloo - to attend the UK's first ever Block Party. This urban street culture event was held by our fav sneaker brand Converse to unearth the UK's finest MC. Having trawled the country holding various heats in some of our nation’s cities, the finalists took to the stage in an 'Eight Mile' type grime clash where baggy jeans, hooded sweatshirts and big tongued trainers quickly spat some words out to the heaving crowd. Skepta, Wiley and P Money rounded off the evening showing the amateurs how it’s really done.

My week with London's style ended perfectly as I swanned off into Soho for dinner and cocktails with my ever style conscious Power Gays on the eve of them getting close and personal with their roles in the London Olympics. Banning carbs on the table after 6pm, patting me on the back for my achievements while making me laugh all night does everything for my figure and confidence...like great underwear, simply every woman should be lucky enough to have Gay best friends.

With Kate and William slowly making the royals cool again, British bands, friends, designers, undies and MCs – not to mention London being voted this year's 'best place to visit' - it’s pretty clear that if you can see past the rather skill-less weather, Britain really is soaked in talent..."
