Welcome to this week's round-up of food deals, discounts and freebies.
Best supermarket deals
This week we’re going to kick off with some price-drop bargains at Tesco; buy a bag of Bramley cooking apples for £1.10 (was £1.35), Tesco ‘Perfectly Ripe’ large avocadoes for 90p each (was £1.10), Shiitake mushrooms for £1.40 (was £1.65), organic raspberries for £2.99 (was £3.99), Whole Foods cashew nuts 200g for £2 (was £2.50) and courgette three-packs for £1 (was £1.75). Or for a sweet treat, this Nestle Funtastic traybake has £1 off at £6.50, these McVitie’s Jamaica ginger cake bars have 50p off at £1 and these Tesco Finest clotted cream scones have 30p off at £1.19.
You can also grab some store cupboard deals. Gale’s Blossom honey is now £2 (was £2.65) and if you’re stocking up on tins look out for the East End brand – these borlotti beans are only 43p, chick peas are only 25p and it’s three for £1 on chopped tomatoes.
Next up, check out the half-price deals at Lidl. You can get a 500g punnet of white grapes for 99p, a 500ml bottle of Italian balsamic vinegar for 64p and a 400g pack of McVitie’s chocolate digestive biscuits for 87p. These deals are only available on Saturday and Sunday.
Over at Sainsbury’s you can get any of these Easter eggs for just £1 (saving you £2) if they are delivered by 6th March. For other snacks at just £1 look out for multi-bags of Twiglets (was £1.98), Swizzels Matlow Bumper Bags (was £2), Tyrrells crisps (was £1.89) and Tracker Roasted Nut bars (was £1.99). Then in the freezer section look out for toffee and chocolate pot desserts for only 50p (was £1.19), McCain wedges for £1 (was £1.85), Aunt Bessie’s Yorkshires (12) for £1 (was £1.64), Young’s Admiral Pie for £1 (was £2) and Young’s Chip Shop fish fillets in bubbly batter for £1.99 (was £3.99).
At Asda look out for Extra Special smoked Scottish salmon for £5 (was £7), the Go Cook haddock with cheese & chive sauce for £2 (was £3.50), an eight-pack of Walls Classic pork sausages for £1.50 (was £2.98), whole mackerel for only £3 per kg (was £4.48) and two for £3 on various deli meats.
For handy standbys, buy Glorious! Skinny Soup New England butternut squash for £1 (was £1.97), a 1kg bottle of Asda brand tomato ketchup for £1 (was £1.58), tins of Ambrosia creamed semolina for 50p (was 85p), Mikado chocolate sticks and Tuc crackers for only 75p each (was £1.35).
Finally, check out the special offers this week from online gourmet butcher Westin Gourmet which includes 23% off a 2.5kg roll of turkey breast butterfly (now £26.17), 24% off a 1.5kg Napoli salami sausage (now £20.34) and 15% off an 18-pack of Cumberland sausages (now £6.12).
Drink deals
If you’ve got an Asda nearby look out for these top wine offers; Blossom Hill Grenache for £4 (was £6.76), Lindemans Cellar Selective Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot and its Chardonnay Chenin Blanc for £4 (was £7.47) Piat Pere et Fils Reserve Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc also for £4 (was £7.97), Montana Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc for £6 (was £9.98) and Yellowwood Mountain Chenin Blanc for £4 (was £6.97).
Online only at Marks & Spencer you can still mix and match any two beer or wine cases and get 25% off – only until 5th March. Or save 25% on any case of wine or champagne in store until 4th March.

If you’re shopping this weekend, check for any vouchers to cut costs:
You can save an impressive £10 at Tesco when you click on this link, find page 9, click the ‘full bar’ tab (the one with two opposing arrows) and print off the coupons to take to your nearest Tesco. Do it now though because they expire 11th March 2012.
There are 15,000 coupons to save you 30p on the new McVitie’s biscuit Quirks. Head to the website and play the game to get yours. Offer expires on the 31st July 2012.
