29 Nov – Chinese actress Gong Li has recently confirmed her participation in the upcoming sequel to the hit Lunar New Year movie, "The Monkey King".

As reported on Mingpao News, the production company has recently announced the stars who will be joining the new movie. Aside from Aaron Kwok, who will replace Donnie Yen as the monkey king, Gong Li will be playing the role of the White Bone Demon.

The actress revealed that "The Monkey King 2" will be her first 3D action movie and she is anticipating the filming process.

"All of these are new to me, and I am full of curiosity. I believe the film will be magical and that I hope to be able to give the role justice," said Gong.

White Bone Demon, or Baigujing, is a shape-shifting demoness whose desire is to eat the flesh of the Buddhist monk Xuanzang.

Among other actresses who have played the character in previous instalments include Karen Mok ("A Chinese Odyssey"), Kristy Yang (1992's "The Monkey King"), and Ady An (2011's TV series, "Journey to the West").
