Han Geng wins Nickelodeon Kids

28 Mar - Singer-actor Han Geng became the first artiste from mainland China to have won Favourite Asian Act award at Nickelodeon's 26th Kids' Choice Awards.

According to Asianbite, on 23 March, Han Geng attended the Kids' Choice Awards ceremony in Los Angeles to receive the orange Nickelodeon blimp. He also posted a video message on the Nick Asia website, thanking fans around the world for voting him.

The former Super Junior member expressed, "I'm very happy to be in LA and be part of this ceremony and to be able to party with the kids. Thank you to the fans around the world for their support and votes."

Han Geng member beats other nominees - Korean rapper PSY, Sarah Geronimo from the Philippines and Malaysia's Shila Amzah to win the award.

Nickelodeon described Han Geng as the "the most influential male celebrity in China", stating, "His 1st solo album sold over a million copies & tickets to his 1st concert sold out in a record-breaking 37 minutes. He is also exceptionally well known for his powerful dance skills and skilful in all of China's 56 ethnic traditional dances, ballet and hip-hop."

Hosted by "Transformers" actor, Josh Duhamel, the 2013 Kids' Choice Awards ceremony was held at the Galen Centre at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. 387 million votes were cast around the world in 22 categories.
