Him Law is a different Chan Ho Nam

16 Jan – Him Law's portrayal as the iconic triad man, Chan Ho Nam, may have been hotly debated among fans in comparison to the original 1996 movie character, but to the actor, his version cannot and should not be compared.

As reported on Jayne Stars website, speaking to the media at the "Young and Dangerous: Reloaded" premiere, the TVB actor explained that he portrays a different version of Chan Ho Nam, who will no longer be someone who craves heroism and deemed more humane towards others.

The actor expressed, "[The new] Chan Ho Nam can't do anything. They are all afraid of dying, so they won't be as rebellious anymore. After all, society has changed!"

Playing the reticent character, Him revealed that he envies Oscar Leung's role as Chicken, saying, "His role has no limits. There are no frames around it. There is so much room for development!"

The actor revealed that when he first got the call to play the role, he was excited. However, the excitement slowly turned into worries, after realising the pressure to play a role that Ekin Cheng has made it his own.

Asked if he is afraid of being stereotyped after the film is released, Him replied, "Maybe one day I'll be miserable about it. But at the moment, I wish I am stereotyped. I hope people will call me Chan Ho Nam when they see me on the streets!"
