How to be romantic in Italy

All romantics know this for a fact: you can find opportunities to show your love anywhere you go. You just have to be creative and, many times, bold and brave. But there are places that seem to ooze romance; where all you need to do to sweep someone off their feet is just to be there.

Italy is one of those places. Beautiful architecture, delicious food, expressive people, historically rich landmarks—it’s practically made for falling in love.

Now, when you get to Italy, you can step up the sweetness with some well thought-out activities.

Begin your day by taking a long drive through the countryside. No one can resist taking in a spectacular view of rolling fields under the summer sun. Now, remember to pack a picnic lunch in the trunk. When you find a suitable spot, spread a blanket and lay out your lunch. (You get added points if you cook it yourself.)

After enjoying your lunch, head back to the city and take in the sights. European cities like Italy never run out of these. Make sure you and your partner wear comfortable shoes. You will be walking a whole lot.

The sun setting over the city is one scene you can’t miss. Take it in with wine and an early dinner. Or, if you’re one of those couples who enjoy having dessert before your meal, how about sharing a big bowl of gelato while watching the sky get darker?
