Jacky Cheung sings for Chow Yun-fat

22 Dec – Jackie Cheung will usually refuse to lend his voice for soundtracks for movies that were not his, unless you are Chow Yun-fat.

Popular Asians reported that according to director Andrew Lau, "I approached Jacky to record a song for "The Last Tycoon". After explaining the story to Jacky, he realised that the lead star of the movie is Chow Yun-fat and immediately accepted the request even before the song's lyrics and composition were written."

Jacky told the media that Chow Yun-fat has been his idol for many years, stating that the actor's performances as the gambling king and gunslinger to be the most memorable.

According to Jacky, "It is rare to come across an opportunity like this. I think I have already indirectly fulfilled my wish. Chow Yun-fat is the big instrument in the screen, while I use my voice to support that instrument behind the scenes. I hope he will like my present."

He continued, ""The Last Tycoon" is a very powerful film and I hope that I will be able to express the turbulent times of the era through my singing."

Meanwhile, Chow Yun-fat was ecstatic to find that Jacky Cheung will be singing the theme for "The Last Tycoon". The actor was quoted saying, "I really want to hear it as soon as possible. At first, I wanted to sneak into the recording studio to hear it, but then I was caught!"
