Jet Li jokes about embezzlement accusations

25 Apr – It seems that martial arts actor Jet Li finds his charity organisation's embezzlement rumours funny, as he recently denied it by making a joke about it.

A Mainland political commentary website, Siyue.net had recently raised questions about the whereabouts of the rest of donations handled by Jet Li's One Foundation, stating that it received more than RMB 385 million in the aftermath of 2013′s Ya'an earthquake, but had only spent RMB 47 million of it on relief efforts.

Though the Secretary General of One Foundation, Yang Peng has already explained it, Jet Li turned to his Weibo account on 23 April and made a joke about his wish to embezzle the money.

He said, "I really want to take One Foundation's RMB 300 million, but I didn't know how. Unfortunately, I do not have the authority within the organisation to sign the money over to my own bank account."

Jet stated that it would be impossible for him to take the money without the media finding out, the bank knowing it and without being caught and thrown in jail, adding, "Can anyone teach me how to do it?"

The actor also pointed out that every executive officer of One Foundation own businesses is worth multi-billion dollars, and that dividing the embezzled money of RMB 300 million will be a tough job as there will not be enough to go around.

"Can you all help me think of a way to split this little bit of money?" he asked.
