JJ Lin, biggest winner of Singapore COMPASS Awards

12 Jul – Singaporean singer JJ Lin nabbed three awards including "Top Local Artiste of the Year", "Top Local Songwriter of the Year" and "Top Local Chinese Pop Song", making him the biggest winner of the night at the COMPASS Awards.

"I am so proud to be a Singaporean singer. I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to all the crew members who worked with me before", the singer said in his acceptance speech.

This year's "Top Local English Pop Song" award went to "You & Me" recorded in Olivia Ong's album "Summer Night Breeze".

During her abbreviated acceptance speech, Olivia said she was very surprised for the recognition that she received from the awards. "This song (You & Me) was inspired by the 2009 animated film "Up". The touching scenes in the movie play an important role in inspiring me to compose this song," she added.

Meanwhile, Tanya Chua, who was recently spotted dating with her boyfriend in Taipei received the "Artistic Excellence Award" on the night.

"I'm always doing my best in the Chinese music industry. I'm so surprised that I received several awards from the Golden Melody Awards and COMPASS Awards in Taiwan and Singapore respectively", she said in her acceptance speech.
