Joey Yung leaves debt issue to company
12 Nov – Hong Kong diva Joey Yung, who recently decided to wash her hands off her father's debt, revealed that the issue is currently being handled by her management company.
Previously, Mr. Yung's name was posted in public notices by creditors who have been seeking him for his debts, including in Happy Valley, where Joey is living. The incident caused Joey to step up and announce that she will no longer pay for his debts.
According to Mingpao News, the singer, who has just recovered from flu recently, stated that she and her father have neither seen each other for a long time nor stayed in contact with one another.
Asked if her decision has made any impact on her family, Joey said that the only person who was affected the most is her mother, though she would not show it to her children.
In related news, it was also revealed that Joey's father has written a letter of commitment, absolving her from paying off his debt.
In the letter written in 2011, he admitted that he owed a large amount of money again after Joey had paid all his debts previously, but declared that he will not ask her to clear his debt again.
