Johnnie To: Who wants to work with Cecilia Cheung now?

After her ex-husband Nicholas Tse made headlines for reuniting with his former girlfriend Faye Wong, and her own love life being scrutinised by the media, now Hong Kong director Johnnie To has made a comment about her durability in the entertainment industry.
As reported on Now News, the "Don't Go Breaking My Heart 2" director recently shared his views about the shortage of Hong Kong actresses in their 30s.
Johnnie, who cast 35-year-old mainland star, Gao Yuanyuan in the sequel of his hit 2011 film, said that Hong Kong film actresses have many limitations, unlike their mainland counterpart.
"In its peak, Hong Kong lacks a lot of leading actresses over 30, unlike overseas where they still can lead a movie in their 40s. The only actress who has that sustaining power is Brigitte Lin. Other than her, it's really rare," said Johnnie.
However, when pointed out that Cecilia Cheung, who has worked with him in "Running on Karma" is over 30, Johnnie replied, "Yes, she is also quite good. Unfortunately, she has been in a lot of negative news."
He added, "She's also divorced. Who wants to work with her now?"
