Juniel Feels the Burden about Being ‘The Next IU’

Juniel feels pressure whenever she’s called ‘the next IU’.

The rookie singer performed at the showcase for her debut album My First June held on June 7 in Seoul.

She said, “IU sunbaenim (senior) is loved as the ‘Nation’s little sister’. I was happy when I was called the next IU, but I think it’s too much for a rookie like me. Rather than be the next IU, I’ll try to show a lot of myself being Juniel.”

The singer then went on to talk about her strengths. “My voice changes tone based on the feel of the song,” she said. “I hear a lot that I’m like a different person with every song, and I think that’s my own strength.”

This day Juniel performed Ready Go!, Fool and Illa Illa while playing her guitar, and for Fool, she sang with her labelmate, CNBlue’s Jung Yong Hwa.

Juniel is a new solo female singer from FNC Entertainment, home of FT Island and CNBlue. She debuted first in Japan with her mini album Ready Go! when she won a popular Japanese audition program titled Niji Iro Supernova in 2010.

In November 2011 she debuted in the major market with her single Forever, and in February she released her second single Sakura.
