Kai Ko's movies affected by SARFT's bans

11 Oct – Following the announcement made by the Chinese State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), saying that celebrities with criminal offences have now been banned from showbiz, TV shows and movies starring them are now in danger of being affected as well.

This includes Raman Hui's "Monster Hunt", as reported on Mingpao News, which stars Taiwanese actor Kai Ko, the same actor who was detained for drug abuse along with Jaycee Chan back in August.

The movie's press conference, which was scheduled in Shanghai today, has been cancelled last minute, with sources claiming that the production will be discussing on how to deal with the recent development.

When asked to comment about the ban, Ko's manager Angie Chai expressed, "I can't think about the loss, but I feel very sorry to the investors."

On the possibility of productions demanding compensation for their loss, Angie said, "I have not thought about this yet. So far, we have not been contacted by the distributors. But we will respect their decision."
