Kim Gura Releases Essay That Gives Advice

Kim Gura will be coming back not as a TV personality, but as an author with his essay With Heart Instead of Harsh Words.

Kim Gura has been working regularly as a volunteer for the comfort women since he left broadcasting, and has stayed away from public exposure since. The book, which breaks his silence since April, is divided into two parts.

The first part, ‘In Daily Life’, talks about how he left broadcasting, what happened after, how anxious he felt during the 10 years he was active and his thoughts about many celebrities such as Lee Kyung Kyu, Moon Hee Jun and Kim Mi Hwa.

In the second part titled ‘To You’, Kim Gura gives his brand of straightforward advice for lovers who are always late, middle school daughters who ask for makeup, women in their 20s who dream of making it as a celebrity, college students dating married men and others who hold many different concerns in life. Most books out there give theoretical advice, but Kim Gura’s essay gives advice based on real-life situations he experienced through the people around him.

Rather than justify his actions or explain why he said such malicious things in the past, Kim Gura accepts what has happened to him and says, ‘I got what I deserved.’

He then talks about his trademark, his scathing comments, and gives examples from a variety of areas.

Kim Gura said about the reason he decided to publish the book, “The saddest man on earth has released a book. […] After giving up television, I realized how precious the things I took as a given were. The people around me helped me grow. Having my own concerns gave me space to listen to others’ concerns.”

The book doesn’t only talk about his feelings, but also provides a glimpse into what he felt amidst the many issues he made in the scene. The book will be released on September 3.
