Kim Jae Joong Holds Successful Fanmeeting in Taiwan

JYJ’s Kim Jae Joong held a successful fanmeeting in Taipei, Taiwan.

According to C-JeS Entertainment, Kim Jae Joong entered Taiwan through the Taoyuan International Airport on May 23 for his solo fanmeeting 2012 Kim Jae Jong Fan Meeting in Taipei.

Despite the fact that he entered the country on a weekday, about 600 fans gathered at the airport to welcome him to their country, and Kim Jae Joong answered their passionate calls with a smile.

A rep from the airport said, “I didn’t know so many people would gather to see him on a weekday because he would be staying in the country for a short while for his fanmeeting,” and a Taiwanese newspaper likewise reported that he had ‘blocked up the airport’ with his popularity.

A source from the hosting company stated, “Protect the Boss, which was highly popular in Korea last year, finished airing in Taiwan also after gathering much popularity, and it’s showing no signs of cooling down as word is spreading about another set of broadcasts. I was surprised at how popular [Kim Jae Joong] was when the 2,500 seats for the fanmeeting sold out as soon as they were made available and took down the servers.”

Protect the Boss earned fans not only in Asia but also Europe and South America watch through live online broadcasts, and it set records regarding overseas sales to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

Kim Jae Joong announced the start of the fanmeeting with his performance of I’ll Protect You from Protect the Boss’ OST, and For You, another film OST.

He then played games with his fans, revealed what he carries around in his bag and sang his self-written song No Gain, which he gave as a present to Kim Junsu for his solo album, without any accompaniment. The two hours he devoted to his fans were enough to make them happy.

He also seemed to have spread the Korean wave even farther. The interest his Taiwanese fans had toward Kim Jae Joong led to an interest in the Korean language, and fans were able to burst out in laughter after understanding what he said onstage immediately. They also answered his Korean questions in Korean. There was no need for an interpreter.

Kim Jae Joong said, “It’s been a year since I’ve been in Taiwan since the world tour last year. I really missed you. I want to thank you for your undying interest and support, and I hope you had a great time these last two hours, like I did. I’ll be back with more great news.”

Kim Jae Joong is currently busy with the shoots for his upcoming MBC drama Dr. Jin, which will air its first episode on May 26, and the film The Jackal is Coming, which is aiming for a premiere in the latter half of the year.
