Lee Jong Seok Rehearses with IU as New ‘Inkigayo’ MC

Lee Jong Seok got a taste of what it’s like to be the MC of a music show before his actual MC debut with IU.

The actor appeared on the May 22 broadcast of SBS’ Strong Heart to talk about his theme, ‘What do you do on Sundays?’

He then revealed to everyone that he would be “hosting SBS’ Inkigayo every Sunday,” hence the theme.

Lee Jong Seok first became known through his appearance in the SBS drama Secret Garden, and continued to put together an impressive career through MBC’s High Kick: The Short Legs Strike Back and the film Korea.

His building popularity finally landed him a spot as the host of a music show, a spot usually given to the hottest stars in the scene.

Lee Jong Seok said, “I think being an MC is really hard. I have a phobia of getting attention. Even now I’m so embarrassed my ears have turned red. It’s okay when I’m acting, but my face burns when I become the center of attention at a meeting with more than seven or eight people present.”

He then asked for advice from his Inkigayo MC senior IU, who was also present on set. “I have a lot to learn from IU,” he said.

IU comforted him by saying, “Because all three of the Inkigayo MCs are girls, everyone will be nice if a boy MC comes. His presence itself will give us strength.”

The two then tried out a mock MC session for Inkigayo, boasting an outstanding bit of teamwork and heightening anticipation for Lee Jong Seok’s MC debut.
