Get the look: Wine+gold lips at Tarun Tahiliani
"To go with his collection, Tarun wanted a look that was high on glamour, yet very wearable," says Mickey Contractor, M.A.C's director of artistry for India, who keyed Tahiliani's opening show for Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week A/W 2014 this week.
Gold dusted lips
The lips -- the focal point of this look --- Contractor says, were inspired by the beauty ideals of the '90s.
"We have a very strong lip, in a deep wine shade, with a touch of gold in the centre," says Contractor.
They were first lined with the Vino lip liner, and then filled in using Fixed on Drama Lipstick from the Retro Matte collection.
"Just on the lower lip, only in the centre, we added a bit of pigment," explains Contractor. "It makes the mouth look fuller, more pouty."
The strong lip was given an additional dimension of shine with a layer of Lustre Glass gloss in Lustre White.
Bare faced, bright eyed
With the pout front and centre, the rest of the face was kept minimal.
"Foundation was applied just on the T-zone. In some cases we used only concealer," he says. "No highlighters were used."
There was the faintest hint of colour on the cheeks via a natural peachy-brown blush called Gingerly.
The eyes were devoid of make-up, except for the false lashes (No. 7) and the waterline being lined with the Chromographic pencil in NC30.
