M Countdown to Head to Thailand in October

The hottest K-Pop stars of the year will continue to rock the fans when they all visit Thailand in October this year.

Korean music chart program Mnet M Countdown will be heading to Thailand this October 4 to hold the One Asia Tour 2012 M Countdown Smile Thailand Tour at the Rajamangala Stadium.

This is M Countdown’s second global encounter after its tour in Japan in April 2011, and its first concert in Thailand. The Rajamangala Stadium has been home to Lady Gaga’s concert and also the SMTown concert, and can hold up to 40,000 spectators.

The tour will consist of all K-Pop stars who have shown major popularity during the months of May to September of 2012, and who have often hit the top of the M Countdown charts.

Groups that have already been confirmed are top-ranking stars Super Junior, SISTAR and Infinite. Because the ranks are still being calculated, Mnet plans to announce the full list of participant groups mid September.

M Countdown is already a famous show aboard as it is in Korea, due to its connection with Global Mnet and other international media outlets. October’s concert is expected to be a success also due to the popularity of K-Pop in Thailand.

Mnet M Countdown is collaborating with FEOH Thai Entertainment Company with this project.

A FEOH spokesperson commented “We’ve had many K-Pop artists come to Thailand before, but we have never had a concert like this where it is hosted by a music chart program. We’re really looking forward to the stars’ performances.”

CJ E&M Mnet CP Choi Seung Jun commented “It was only since the MAMA awards in Macau in 2010 and Singapore in 2011 that we truly started to understand how popular K-Pop really was in Thailand. We are extremely lucky to have this collaboration with FEOH, and we can’t wait to show the Thai fans not only K-Pop but Korean concert presentation and the fun atmosphere too.”

M Countdown began airing in July 2004 and has met viewers time and time again each Thursday with live broadcasts of their favorite musicians.

Currently, M Countdown is available live in the States, Japan, and also available recorded in Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar and more. In addition, Global Mnet now has a section where anyone in the world with internet access can watch the show live each week.
