Matsui Sakiko to debut as pianist

21 Aug – AKB48's Matsui Sakiko would be making her solo debut as a pianist when she releases her first classical album on 3 October.

According to Tokyo Hive, the album would have 11 pieces performed by Matsui, including piano versions of AKB48's "Aitakata", "Heavy Rotation", "Everyday Kachuusa" and a Nissin Cup Noodles commercials tune that AKB48 appeared in.

Matsui has been playing the piano since she was four and is the only member in the idol group who is currently enrolled in the Tokyo Music College, majoring in piano in the Department of Instrumental Music. She has previously performed the piano in several of the group's performances, and she would be the first pianist to make her solo debut from the group.

"This is a happiness that I have never experienced. I would like to become a great pianist like Matsuhita Nao, who's a senpai from my music college," she said, referring to the pianist and actress.
