Mediacorp to produce 4-episode national day drama

20 Jul - To commemorate Singapore's National Day, Mediacorp has decided to produce a drama themed after the 1968 National Day Parade, which was held on a rainy day.

"The Day It Rained on Our Parade" would be a 4-episode drama produced by Mediacorp to celebrate Singapore's 47th National Day this year since the country gained its independence in 1965.

The drama is based on the actual National Day parade of 9 August 1968, which will capture the spirit of unity, loyalty and common destiny into a touching and heart-warming story.

During the press conference, actress Ng Hui said that she will portray a nun in the drama. She revealed that she had an interview with a real nun that had helped her in acting as a member of the clergy.

Apart from that, Ng Hui added that she lived as a nun in a Chinese temple located at Geyland a few years ago.

"The Day It Rained on Our Parade" will make its debut on 4 August, and would be aired every Saturday at 10:30PM, exclusively on Channel 8.
