PENPALS announce first album in 8 years

22 May – Japanese rock band PENPALS have announced that they would be releasing an all-new album, their first in eight years after disbanding and reuniting.

According to Tokyo Hive, the yet-to-be-titled album would be released on 25 July, and will have a re-recorded version of their hit "Tell Me Why", that was used as the opening theme of the "Berserk" anime in 1997. This would be their first album since "Summer Time – Pride of Niigata" that was released in 2004.

The band also announced that they would be resuming their activities in the summer months, starting off by performing at the "Rock In Japan Festival". This would also be their first appearance at the festival in eight years.

PENPALS was disbanded in 2005 when one of its members left the band to join another. They later reunited in February 2011.
