Red Carpet Styles at the 48th Paeksang Arts Awards

The 48th Paeksang Arts Award rolled out the red carpet on April 26 to celebrate the stars who shined in dramas and films, and we’ve rounded up some of the styles seen on our favorite celebrities.

And while the leading ladies were whisked down the red carpet in colorful, airy floor-length gowns, the black photo wall proved to be a bit problematic for the men, reducing some of the actors into floating heads.

Kim Soo Hyun

Actor Kim Soo Hyun, who has always had a bit of clean-cut, nice guy image, definitely caught our attention in his patterned suit and edgy hairstyle. While most of the men chose to go the traditional route for the black-tie affair, Kim Soo Hyun surprised us with a modern take on the classic black suit. The look was a little Joker, yes, but we approve.

Park Yoo Chun and Park Yoo Hwan

Speaking of traditional, brothers Park Yoo Chun and Park Yoo Hwan played it safe in classic black suits. Park Yoo Chun mixed it up with a white-on-white look with the bowtie and shirt, while Park Yoo Hwan put an all-black spin on the look. But we’re warning you: stare too long and the brothers will turn into floating heads in front of the black photo wall.

Suzy and Uee

The New Actress award and girl group member title aren’t the only things miss A’s Suzy and After School’s Uee have in common. Suzy and Uee both opted for strapless mini dresses that give off a playful and youthful vibe fitting of the girl group members.

Park Ha Sun and Park Shin Hye

If the black photo wall washed out some of the men, Park Ha Sun and Park Shin Hye were swallowed up by the red carpet in their dresses. Still, Park Shin Hye looked like a seasoned pro on the red carpet in the relaxed dress, while Park Ha Sun bared a little back in her halter-style gown.

Kang Sora

We loved Kang Sora in Sunny, but her dress had us a little blind-sided. Who knew Lisa Frank designed dresses? In case you’re too young to understand the reference to the American artist who designs unicorn and dolphin-laden school supplies — for elementary and middle school students — we’ve provided a photo.

Han Hyo Joo and Oh Seung Hyun

Actresses Han Hyo Joo and Oh Seung Hyun floated down the red carpet like a spring breeze in their respective one-shoulder gowns. And while the goddess look is certainly one tried and true way to go, we wish the starlets would explore other options once in a while.

Jung Yu Mi and Hong Su Ah

Jung Yu Mi and Hong Su Ah took the concept of dressing for the season quite literally in their floral gowns. While Hong Su Ah’s gown was a much more literal take on the spring trend that never seems to go out of style, we loved the simple silhouette of Jung Yu Mi’s dress. And Jung Yu Mi’s playful hairstyle, from the cut to the color, was the cherry on top to the perfect spring look.

Kim Min Hee and Gong Hyo Jin

BFFs Kim Min Hee and Gong Hyo Jin appeared to be on the same wavelength at this year’s award show, opting for clean, crisp lines and monotone colors. Kim Min Hee walked the red carpet in an all-white, form-fitting gown. We’re sure even celebrities have anxieties about wearing white, but Kim Min Hee appeared to have no such reservations.

Gong Hyo Jin, who is always going against the grain, went in a simple black, if not slightly boring, mini dress that appears to be a cry against the chiffon styles seen frequently on the red carpet.

Yoo In Na and Lim Soo Hyang

Speaking of being on the same wavelength, Yoo In Na and Lim Soo Hyang both showed up to the award show in a midnight blue strapless gown. Let’s just hope their walks were timed so they didn’t have to cross paths on the red carpet because we all know how awkward that would be.

Jung Juri

In true Jung Juri fashion, the gag woman stormed down the red carpet in a flashy, empire waist dress embellished with jeweled details and a swooping neckline that is as in-your-face as her loud personality.
