"Rowdy Rathore" musical troubles

9 June – "Rowdy Rathore" may have been a success in the box office, but a legal suit against its producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali has marred the festivities.

According to Masala, Sanjay was forced to pay an out-of-the-court settlement to Aditya Music, who holds the rights to the hit song "Chintata" that was used in the blockbuster movie.

Although Sanjay had bought the rights to remake the Telugu film "Vikramarkudu" to "Rowdy Rathore", he had overlooked the fact that the songs are also properties of a music label and re-recorded the song unknowingly. When the label found out, they served Sanjay with a legal notice, claiming that he had used the song without their permission.

Sanjay had initially sought the help of the production house but they refused to provide any financial aid since they felt that it was Sanjay's responsibility to settle with the music company. This led Sanjay to pay for the settlement out of his own pockets, as he did not want to take the risk of being involved in a protracted court case.

"Rowdy Rathore" is directed by Prabhu Deva Sundaram and stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha as the leads.
