Ruby Lin takes Chiung Yao side over plagiarism allegations

23 Apr – Though she has worked with both parties, Taiwanese actress-producer Ruby Lin recently expressed her support for author-producer Chiung Yao in the latter's plagiarism battle with Chinese screenwriter-producer, Yu Zheng.

Previously, Chiung Yao alleged that the plot from Yu Zheng's "The Palace 3" The Lost Daughter" closely resembles the first part of her "Plum Blossom Trilogy", which she is currently adapting for a TV series in Taiwan.

In both series set in the Qing Dynasty, a princess was swapped with a male baby at birth and had to go through a lot of hardship in her life, until she eventually meets the fake prince and falls in love with him.

Not only did Hunan TV, the broadcasting station that aired the series, refused to pull it off air, Yu Zheng himself stressed that the similarities are pure coincidental.

On 21 April, Ruby Lin, who has worked with both Chiung Yao and Yu Zheng in the past, stated that her loyalty remains with the 76-year-old producer, saying, "Though I can't say much as this matter is in the hands of the court now, I can say that I am in support of justice."
