Seo In Guk to Explode with Emotion in ‘Reply 1997’
The Seo In Guk who stayed strong in his romance will be breaking down in the upcoming broadcast of Reply 1997. The cold Gyeongsang man will confess his love in a series of tough lines, melting the hearts of his female viewers everywhere.
Seo In Guk’s role Yoon Yoon Jae likes Sung Si Won but can’t confess his love to her because his brother Tae Woong (Song Jong Ho) likes Si Won also.
In the previews released online, however, Yoon Jae is shown ultimately exploding out in front of Si Won, saying, “I like you. What should I do? What do you think I should do? I said, what do you think I should do?”
Near the beginning of the drama Yoon Jae only tried to hint at his feelings in roundabout ways, but the more recent ‘What should I do’ lines show how Yoon Jae is unable to hold back his emotions any longer, as well as how sorry he feels toward his big brother.
Seo In Guk worked very hard to shape this scene perfectly. According to his agency, his face had swollen because he wasn’t feeling too well on the day of the shoot, so he tried to sweat it out by wearing three thick padded jackets at once or exercising for more than four hours.
His efforts ultimately shone when Yoon Je exploded with the feelings he couldn’t show before due to his loyalty to his brother. On the day of the shoot, sometime in late July, Seo In Guk had even uploaded a picture of himself wearing the thick jackets in the hot weather.
Netizens who saw the preview video left comments such as, ‘I think I’m going to cry’, ‘Seo In Guk’s acting is great. I can’t wait for the next episode’ and ‘I’ve watched this 10 times already. I want to watch the episode.’
The producers of Reply 1997 said, “Seo In Guk has been working hard not only because it’s his first lead role, but also because he’s very attached to his character, and he fits well into his role. The producers have been happy at how passionate he’s been for every shoot.”
The scene will finally air in the August 28 broadcast of Reply 1997.
