Stephen Chow's suspicious "Mermaid" open auditions in a hotel

15 Apr – An audition announcement for Stephen Chow's new movie, "Mermaid" has sparked questions from many when it was stated that it will be held in a hotel room.

According to a report on HK Top Ten, a man named Wang Soulian who claimed to be the production assistant director of the upcoming movie, posted the ad online, which read, "The Stephen Chow-directed film, "Mermaid" Beijing audition address: Hutu Hotel, Room 805."

It continued, "Production starts in Shenzhen in August, no roles has been cast. Actress audition requirement: no make-up during team meeting."

The note also stated that the production wants newcomers for an "innocent and cute" role and a "wealthy elegant heiress" character.

Not a few moments later, a man named Chen Zhenyu who claimed himself a business director of a Stephen Chow company, raised suspicions about the hotel room audition, but later posted again saying that the audition is real and urged people to come over.

However, no response has been made by Stephen himself regarding the true nature of the ad.
