The Reason Why BoA Gave Up College

Having made her debut at the age of 14 and spent a good majority of her life as a superstar, BoA finally revealed why she chose not to go to college.

During the recording of KBS’ Win Win, BoA honestly revealed everything in her career from her debut until now. One of the things she shared was about her secondary and higher education, which she gave up.

Up until middle school, BoA had top marks in her classes, but as her singer career took off, it became harder and harder for her to maintain her studies.

“I couldn’t go to school a lot because I started my Japanese activities and later I ended up quitting. I took the GEDs (General Equivalency Diploma) for my high school studies.”

BoA continued to explain that despite her good grades, she chose not to go to college. “I thought about going to college, but I realized I would just become a ghost student with my busy schedules.” She added, “I didn’t want to go to college to show people that I was going to college.”

Although she had to give up her education, BoA says she doesn’t regret it.
“I can’t get everything. While I gave up school, I was able to gain lots of experience from my singing career. I’m thankful that I can do what I enjoy and still receive so much love from people.”

This and more about BoA will be revealed on May 29 on Win Win.
