3 Oct – Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Ka-fai was reported to have withdrawn from his upcoming drama series with TVB due to clashes in his schedule that was caused by his recent filming accident.
As reported on CN West website, the 55-year-old actor, who previously agreed to play a role in TVB's new cop series, was involved in an accident while shooting a car crash scene for a new film directed by Li Chi-ngai.
During a tele-interview, Tony asked the media not to exaggerate his injuries, but admitted that he had to cancel his TVB comeback because of it.
"The accident happened about a month ago, and I have already recovered. But the movie had to be delayed because of me and I have to pay my dues. I've already spoken to the producer, scriptwriter, Michael Miu and Eric Tsang about the script. I really hoped to work with Michael, but it's a pity that I have to leave the project."
Meanwhile, TVB production director Tommy Leung expressed, "I have visited him and his fractured bones will have to heal naturally. It's a real pity that he didn't get to participate in this series, but there is no other choice. Health is the most important!"
He also added that they will reassess the script and find another actor to replace Tony.
