Zhang Yimou thanks Gong Li and Chen Daoming
14 Apr – Chinese film director Zhang Yimou recently expressed his gratitude for the excellent performance of his two lead stars, Chen Daoming and Gong Li.
As reported on CRI, the Chinese filmmaker who collaborated with the two stars in "Home Coming", stated that Chen and Gong both gave such inspiring performances that it added more depth to the movie.
"Everybody knows that Chen Daoming and Gong Li are two of the best actors in China and I have wanted them in my film from the start. But they also taught me a lot too," said Zhang.
He continued, "[In addition to their performance], they also shared their views on certain details of the film. Their contributions for the movie are beyond acting performances."
Zhang also praised actress Zhang Huiwen, who played Chen and Gong's daughter in the film, saying, "I asked her to act absent-minded and hesitant, and she really embodied that."
The movie, which will be released in Chinese theatres this May, is an adaptation of Yan Geling's novel, "The Criminal Lu Yanzhi", and tells a story of the relationship between a former prisoner with his estranged wife of whom he was separated from during their marriage due to his imprisonment.
