Zhang Ziyi has fun playing and kissing Leehom

20 Sep – Previously, Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi has stated that she wanted more than just action roles, and she got it with her latest production "My Lucky Star", which also stars multi-talented American-Taiwanese artiste Leehom Wang in the lead role.

At a recent promotional event for the romantic comedy film, Ziyi revealed that she never really had the opportunity to be playful in real life but in her latest film, she gets to do it on screen. She goes on to say that there are some similarities between her and her character.

"Sophie's a little bit ditzy, wilful and can get a bit out of hand when she wants something her way," says the 34-year-old actress, "I hope girls will be able to see a little of themselves in Sophie."

Her co-star Leehom plays a handsome superspy that is on a mission to make the world a better place. According to Ziyi, the 37-year-old actor often attracted a lot of attention when they were filming.

"Every time he films a scene, there would be girls trying to photograph him on location!" says Ziyi.

The chemistry between the two stars on and off screen was palpable as they both laughed about having "many long and good takes" with their on-screen kisses.

"When they kissed, I never wanted to yell "Cut!"," said director Dennie Gordon.

Dennie is a veteran American TV series director well known for her work in "Ally McBeal", "The Practice" and "Burn Notice", amongst others. "My Lucky Star" is her first Chinese-U.S. co-production and it is currently showing in Singapore.
