Zhang Ziyi wins Best Actress again

30 Mar – Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi has won her eighth Best Actress award at the recently held 8th Asian Film Awards.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress defeated her competitors including Nina Paw ("Rigor Mortis"), Yoko Maki ("The Ravine of Goodbye"), as well as Han Hyo-joo ("Cold Eyes") to receive the award, presented by fellow actress Carina Lau.

Thanking director Wong Kar Wai and co-star Tony Leung in her speech, the actress enthused, "I believe that a lot of actors here feel the same way as I do and experience the liveliness of the characters with me."

She also expressed her condolence to the families of the MH370 victims, saying, "They were our friends and family members. Aside from the celebration, I would like to salute this valuable life."

The actress, as well as "The Grandmaster" team also wore black to mourn the loss of their stunt coordinator Ju Kun, who was among the victims of the Malaysian flight disaster.

"The Grandmaster" returned home a big winner, winning seven awards including Best Film, Best Director, as well as Best Cinematography.
